Canada’s Revamped Immigration Rules Simplify Process for International Students

Previously, the length of the PGWP was determined by the length of the student’s program, with a maximum validity of three years. However, as of February 2021, the Canadian government has removed the requirement for the duration of the program to determine the length of the PGWP. This change gives international students more flexibility and allows them to gain valuable work experience in Canada for up to three years.
Furthermore, the Canadian government has also made changes to the application process for permanent residency for international students. Through the Express Entry system, which manages applications for permanent residency, international students are awarded additional points for their Canadian education and Canadian work experience. This gives them a significant advantage in the application process, making it easier for them to transition from being temporary residents to permanent residents of Canada.
These revamped immigration rules demonstrate Canada’s commitment to attracting and retaining international students.
